Rhinoplasty surgery is one of the most commonly sought after forms of cosmetic surgery.  Of the different procedures usually requested, reshaping of the tip nears the top of the list.  Reshaping the tip, also called tip rhinoplasty is a form of rhinoplasty that has the main purpose of correcting problems involving the nasal tip.  Often this includes reducing the size or bulbosity of the nasal tip. On the other hand, tip rhinoplasty can also include the addition of cartilage to the tip to create the desired shape and size.

Variation in the Nasal Tip

The tip of the nose has the widest variation amongst patients in regard to length, strength, shape, curvature, asymmetries, and so forth.  Further variation may be found in the nasal bones in terms of lengths, thickness, and orientation. Furthermore, the thickness of the skin may also add an extra level of variation that the surgeon will have to pay attention to.

Good candidates for tip rhinoplasty are those with a nice width on the upper two thirds of the nose, and those that have a satisfactory profile already.  These candidates may only desire work to refine a bulbous or boxy nasal tip and may be satisfied with the remainder of the nose.

Advantages of Tip Rhinoplasty

Because this procedure is easier than traditional rhinoplasty, it is usually less expensive and will take less time to complete the surgery.  While recovering from any type of surgery is relatively short, tip rhinoplasty patients generally find that their recovery process is milder and faster.
